Summer 2020 Update
The missing link on the West End of Montrose County is complete! You can ride on an OHV or Dirt Bike for nearly all 160 miles from Montrose County all the way into Utah. Please check with the Moab to confirm that Moab welcomes non-street legal OHV’s.
Construction of about 1.4 miles of new OHV trail, parallel to State Highway 141, will be done to allow OHV users a way to cross Hwy 141 and access the Montrose County Bridge over the Dolores River located on R13 Road. This project design includes three crossings of the highway. This construction will make the entire 160 miles of the Rimrocker Trail legal for OHV use.
In March, 2018, Commissioner Caddy and Deputy County Manager Jon Waschbusch presented “The Missing Link Project” to Colorado Parks and Wildlife OHV Grant Program.
In May, 2018, County officials were notified that the Missing Link Project was one of 42 applications that was awarded funding.
The total project cost is estimated at $390,285 and the grant dollars awarded are $194,657. Montrose County has budgeted for the remaining dollars to complete the project.
